As the year draws to a close, we have two big releases approaching - Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki and Prabhas-starrer Salaar. Dunki, a comedy-drama film based on "Donkey Flights", has become a hot topic of discussion in recent weeks.

Release date
The Rajkumar Hirani directorial is set for a December 21, 2023, release. Dunki is the first film on which director Rajkumar Hirani and SRK are collaborating together, and it is also one of the least expensive films of King Khan in recent years. Since Sanju, the biggest smash of 2018, Rajkumar Hirani has not had a theatrical release.
Plot
The movie shows how Indians often enter countries including the US and Canada through the illegal "Donkey Flight" backdoor. Notably, the movie has been filmed in multiple locales throughout India as well as other countries. The film has been written by Hirani, Abhijat Joshi, and Kanika Dhillon.
Cast
The film features a compelling cast with Shah Rukh Khan portraying Hardy, Taapsee Pannu as his love interest Manu, and Vicky Kaushal as his friend Sukhi. The film also stars Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover.
OTT platform
Dunki is an exclusive theatrical release and will only be available in theaters on December 21, 2023. After the theatrical run, the movie is expected to premiere on the Jio Cinema digital platform. However, this has not been confirmed officially.
Clash with Salaar
A box office showdown is anticipated between Prabhas' Salaar: Part One - Ceasefire and Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki. With Rs 4.46 crore in advance bookings, Dunki is currently leading, followed by Salaar at Rs 3.58 crore. The release dates of SRK and Prabhas' movies are December 21 and December 22, respectively.
