The second instalment is likely to hit the big screens in October 2023.
It's been just a few days since Dune hit the big screens. The film directed by Denis Villeneuve ends on a slight cliffhanger and hinting that there will be a second instalment. However, the makers didn't officially announce Dune Part Two despite titling the first film as Dune Part One. Now, Timothée Chalamet, the leading star of the sci-fi film took to his social media pages and confirmed Dune Part Two.
The actor shared the poster of the film and fans can't keep calm since then. Even Zendaya, the female lead of Dune shared her excitement on the second part. The Euphoria actor is likely to have more screen time in the second instalment as she appeared in bits and pieces in Dune.
While Legendary who is producing Dune also announced Dune Part Two by tweeting, "This is only the beginning... Thank you to those who have experienced @dunemovie so far, and those who are going in the days and weeks ahead. We're excited to continue the journey!"
As per reports in Deadline, Villeneuve also expressed his happiness after Dune Part Two was greenlit. The filmmaker said, "I just received news from Legendary that we are officially moving forward with Dune: Part Two."
He further revealed that it was his dream to adapt Frank Herbert’s Dune. Villeneuve thanked his fans, the cast and crew, Legendary and Warner Bros for supporting his dream.
The filmmaker concluded by saying, "This is only the beginning."
The latest release Dune has an ensemble cast including Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem.
The film was released after a much delay due to the coronavirus pandemic. While now, Dune Part Two will hit the big screens in October 2023.
