The film, directed by debutant Abhilash Joshiy, has Dulqer playing a gangster
It seems like Dulquer Salmaan's King of Kotha is one of the most hyped projects of the actor. The character poster video of the film, which was released recently, has already gone on to clock 8 million views in a span of 24 hours. The film's music composer Jakes Bejoy shared his excitement on his social media handle. He wrote, "#KingOfKotha motion poster garners 8M+ views in 24 hours on all platforms. THANK YOU FOR THE MASSIVE RESPONSE (sic)."
According to the video, Shabeer Kallarakkal will play Kannan, Prasanna will play Shahul Hassan, Aishwarya Lekshmi will be seen as Tara, Nyla Usha as Manju, Chemban Jose Vinod as Ranjith, Gokul Suresh as Tony, Shammi Thilakan as Ravi, Shanthi Krishna as Malathi, Saran as Jinu and Anikha Surendran as Rithu.
While Shabeer had stated that he couldn't ask for a better debut in Malayalam, Prasanna wrote on his social media handle, "Introducing the people of Kotha from #KingOfKotha and delighted to be a part of this gangster universe (sic)."
King of Kotha will mark the directorial debut of veteran filmmaker Joshiy’s son Abhilash Joshiy and is scripted by Porinju Mariyam Jose writer Abhilash N Chandran. The period film has Dulquer in a rustic avatar and the portions have been shot in Karaikudi, Rameshwaram, Madurai, Kochi and Manali.
Abhilash Joshiy had earlier told OTTplay, “It’s a gangster film based on the events that happen in a town called Kotha. It’s not a typical ‘mass’ film; it has equal importance to emotions, romance and songs as much as action."
While the music is by Jakes Bejoy and Shaan Rahman, cinematography is by Nimish Ravi and editing by Shyam Sasidharan. Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films has bankrolled the massive project. King of Kotha is billed as a pan- Indian project and will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.
