With just a day to go for the release of Dulquer Salmaan's King of Kotha trailer (August 9), fans of the actor are on cloud nine. Meanwhile, King of Kotha seems to have an interesting connection with Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan . Both films are edited by Ruben. The buzz is that the trailer of the film will be screened in theatres during Rajinikanth's Jailer. An official confirmation is awaited.
King of Kotha is a gangster action drama and has Dulquer Salmaan essaying the lead character. The film marks the debut of Abhilash Joshiy, son of veteran director Joshiy. Scripted by Abhilash Chandran of Porinju Mariyam Jose fame, King of Kotha is set in a fictional town called Kotha and is set between the '80s and' 90s. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, the director, Abhilash Joshiy had said that King of Kotha cannot be bracketed as a typical mass film. According to him, the movie gives importance to emotions, and romance as much as it showcases action.
The film is made on a budget of Rs 50 crore and it is said to be one of the biggest films in Dulquer's career. Earlier, actors like Gokul Suresh and Shammi Thilakan, who play a crucial role in King of Kotha, had spoken highly of the film. While Gokul believes the film has the potential to gross more than Rs 200 crore from the box office, Shammi who plays the character Kotha Ravi, revealed that massive sets were used during the shoot of the movie.
The teaser and dance number of the film released were well received by the viewers. While Nimish Ravi has handled the cinematography, Shyam Sasidharan has handled the editing. Jakes Bejoy has composed the music and the recently released song Kalapakkaara has been well received in all the 4 languages (Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu). King of Kotha, bankrolled by Dulquer Salmaan along with Zee Studios, will hit theatres on August 24.
