Director Prasanth Varma, who began his career with three genre-bending films - Awe, Kalki and Zombie Reddy - that are as diverse as chalk and cheese, is now venturing into another unexplored territory with a pan-Indian superhero film titled Hanu-Man. Starring Teja Sajja (who also headlined Zombie Reddy) in the title role (as Hanumanthu), the multilingual is a retelling of the legend behind the mythological character Hanuman in a modern-day setting. The film's intriguing first look and the glimpse were unveiled by actor, producer Dulquer Salmaan today.
The captivating first look of the film has Teja Sajja, in the role of Hanumathu, climbing a tree, donning a brick-red coloured kurta and a white pyjama, wearing a silver colour pendant with a black thread, and standing on a branch and aiming at his target. Sporting long hair and a well-rounded moustache in a superbly designed look, Teja is extremely convincing in the new avatar. The film is set amidst a hilly backdrop, in a fantasy world called Anjanadri and if you need more of it, you can't miss the first glimpse.
The first glimpse takes the character forward, where Hanumanthu runs, slides and jumps in the forest to get his slingshot right. The scene shifts to a monkey's reaction to his shot soon, while the final frames in the glimpse focus on the special powers of a pearl shell. The film that will be high on VFX, with jaw-dropping action sequences, is being made in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages. Hanu-Man's shoot is currently progressing at a brisk pace in Hyderabad.
K Niranjan Reddy of Primeshow Entertainment is bankrolling the film on a massive scale. The project is likely to feature several big stars from the tinsel town as well. Chaitanya is the presenter of the film. Prasanth Varma's script-writing firm, Scriptsville, has come up with Hanu-Man's screenplay. Dasaradhi Shivendra is cranking the camera for the film, while Srinagendhra Tangala and Lanka Santhoshi are on board as the production designer and the costume designer respectively. Asrin Neddy is the executive producer.
