Chup: The Revenge of the Artist, which has Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan and Pooja Bhatt, is set to hit theatres on September 23
Dulquer Salmaan has always maintained that it takes a unique script for him to sign a film to put his commitments down South on hold and take up a project in Bollywood. R Balki’s Chup: The Revenge of the Artist had all those ingredients and more, revealed the Sita Ramam actor in a recent interview, while talking about the September 23 release that also has Sunny Deol, Pooja Bhatt and Shreya Dhanwanthary as part of the cast.
In a recent interview with Filme Shilmy, the actor said that when Chup was offered to him by director Balki, he hadn't read such a script in any of the other languages that he has worked on so far. “I was really amazed that Balki sir even thought of me for this film and the role. It's a bit of a riot, the film,” he said, adding that it’s the kind of film and role that he hasn’t done before and a movie that he was sure will stand out in his filmography.
While the Malayalam actor didn’t reveal too much about the film, which is touted to be a thriller and several references to Guru Dutt, Dulquer said, “I feel like it's Balki sir pushing himself to a zone he has never attempted. He has had so much fun writing this film and I could sense his excitement while narrating the script to me and also while filming.”
He also said that the movie has dark elements but it also “doesn't take itself too seriously”. “There's some amount of entertainment and laughter you will find in its darkness,” he said, adding that it’s got a quirky cast.
The makers are planning to reveal the trailer of the movie on September 5. Dulquer said while the teaser didn’t give much away about the movie, the trailer will “definitely be a conversation starter”.
