Olivia Wilde and the entire team of Don't Worry Darling are gearing up for the grand Venice Film Festival premiere on Monday, September 5. The period sociological thriller promises a rivetting mystery centered on a experimental-but-utopian society that hides an unsettling secret underneath. While Harry Styles and Florence Pugh play the leads, Olivia Wilde, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, and Chris Pine play key characters in the film.

One of the more vibrant and vital characters in Don't Worry Darling is Chris Pine's Frank who features in the story as the founder of the 'Victory Project', a company that acts as the epicentre of a lot of mysterious activity. As evidenced by the trailer, Pine's character of Frank conceals a sinister side and reportedly, director Olivia Wilde based him on a controversial real-life personality.

In a recent free-wheeling chat with fellow actor Maggie Gyllenhaal, Wilde acknowledged that she was inspired by Canadian professor and clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson. Peterson is known to share tendentious statements about subjects such as feminism and political correctness and several of his debates, interviews, and lectures have gained tremendous popularity on YouTube over the past few years.

However, Olivia Wilde's view of Jordan Peterson is less than kind as she goes to describe him in the same interview as an "insane man who is this pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community". She then adds that the term 'incel' is best described as "disenfranchised, mostly white men, who believe they are entitled to sex from women".

The trailer of Don't Worry Darling also alludes to the lack of trust that both the audience and some of the film's other characters are bound to feel towards Chris Pine's character. As a sharply suited man who carries a self-assured and charismatic demeanor, Pine's Frank is alluring and yet dubious in myriad ways.

Don't Worry Darling has been written by Katie Silberman based on a story Carey Van Dyke, Shane Van Dyke and Silberman.
