Don’t Look Up: Leonardo DiCaprio rewrote a comedy scene 15 times

Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most beloved and followed stars across the world. The established actor, who is well appreciated for his acting chops, has also worked with some of the biggest names in cinema throughout his career.

DiCaprio’s next is an upcoming comedy directed by Adam McKay called Don’t Look Up. The movie, which has a long list of a star-studded cast, is one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

It is now understood that the star along with writer-director McKay rewrote one of the scenes for the movie, 15 times. A scene that will have DiCaprio in an “I’m mad as hell” style freakout from Network was the scene that underwent this treatment.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, McKay said that the actor suggested a Network style freak out speech to be integrated into the movie, but the director was hesitant at first and caved in later.

Reports also suggest that in the early screenings of the movie, this particular scene received some of the most engagement from the audience, garnering long laughs.

Don’t Look Up, which will be a black comedy satire, has a long list of stars, apart from DiCaprio. It includes Rob Morgan, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Ron Perlman, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi, Cate Blanchett, and Meryl Streep.
