Don box office collection: Sivakarthikeyan’s college comedy drama has hit an early milestone

Directed by Cibi Chakaravarthi, the movie is also the second time Sivakarthikeyan is pairing up with Priyanka Arul Mohan.

Sivakarthikeyan’s Don hit theatres on May 13 and has become a big hit, surprising many. The movie has been received well by the fans and the latest box office updates about the movie suggests that it has already crossed the Rs. 50 crore mark.

According to reports, the comedy drama has flown past Rs. 50 crores in the state of Tamil Nadu, where it has gotten more screens in its second week, despite new releases. The movie has also reportedly minted an impressive Rs. 75 crore worldwide. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala reported earlier today that the movie is at $390K at the end of Saturday in the US and that it is expected to cross $400K today.

The movie has been pulling in audiences to the big screens with a great blend of comedy, romance and drama, all set in a college campus setting. The movie received mixed to positive reviews from the critics, but has been a great hit among the fans.

“All in all, an enjoyable film—Don keeps the audience glued till the end! This Sivakarthikeyan-starrer is definitely worth a trip to the theatres. By the way, keep some tissues by your side! I bet you’d use them during the climax portions,” reads the movie’s review on OTTplay.

Recently, Sivakarthikeyan also revealed that superstar Rajinikanth himself called him to congratulate him and the team for Don. The actor revealed that Rajinikanth said that he could not control his emotions towards the end of the movie.

Don is the directorial debut of Cibi Chakaravarthi and the movie also features Soori, Samuthirakani, Vijay TV fame Sivangi, RJ Vijay, Munishkanth, Bala Saravanan, Kaali Venkat and others in important roles.

Priyanka Arul Mohan, who paired up with Sivakarthikeyan in Nelson’s Doctor, is the female lead in Don. The movie is now available in theatres near you.
