Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus rework their magic into Wrecking Ball and make it a rocking success again
After their last team-up for the song Rainbowland, belonging to Cyrus’ 2017 album Younger Now, Dolly Parton and our beloved Hannah Montana-star are back with their latest hit. Early October 20th, the song was released, and it has already garnered a lot of praise and appreciation.
The Jolene-star dropped a post announcing the release, as well as a black-and-white poster of the two divas. The song begins with a poignant piano sequence, accompanied by Dolly’s breathy, husky voice, before being joined by Miley in the first chorus.
In an exclusive video clip, Parton shared with Billboard that her choice of artist and song was no accident or sudden choice. She had long since had her eye on Wrecking Ball as well her god-daughter’s mettle, but one cannot bemoan her good taste, for Parton is known to cover hit numbers with skilled artists.
She gave two main reasons for including Miley and Wrecking Ball as part of her album. In the video she said, “To involve Miley in my rock ‘n’ roll album, I thought, well, I have to do ‘Wrecking Ball,’ because I love Miley and I love the song.” Cyrus’ glad acceptance of Parton’s offer for a collab only served to hold a candle to their cherished as the former took to Instagram and penned a heartfelt post.
Parton then went on to reveal the second reason, the massive response to Cyrus’ and hers performance of Wrecking Ball combined with I Will Always Love You, “Since everybody loved it, and we loved it. I thought, why don’t I just do that combination and have her sing on my rock album?” She fondly ended by expressing how proud she was of the song and their joint effort behind it.
The song is a part of Dolly Parton’s upcoming album Rockstar, which is going to be her 49th solo album venture. It will be launched on November 17, and will feature several rocking, star-studded collaborations with artists like P!nk, Lizzo, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Stevie Nicks and many more.
