Noah Schnapp had publicly shared his texts with Doja Cat, in a now deleted TikTok video.
For the uninitiated, Doja had texted Noah and had spoken of her admiration for his Stranger Things co-star Joseph Quinn. The singer had asked Noah to tell Joseph to ‘hit her up’ if the latter didn't already have a girlfriend. Noah responded by asking Doja to ‘slip into Joseph’s DMs’, and offered links to Joseph’s social media when the singer had said she couldnt find them. Noah then went on to reveal the texts Doja sent him and in a TikTok video which went viral. The video, which Noah has now deleted, was not well received by the singer.
Taking to her official TikTok handle, Doja went live and criticised Noah for sharing their private conversation. The singer spoke about how she tried to take the 17 year old Noah’s age into consideration, saying people were bound to make mistakes at that age. Speaking of how she was trying to be ‘fair’ by doing so, Doja said that she too had made her fair share of mistakes at that age, which she said was a time people did ‘dumb’ things and ruined relationships.
Calling Noah ‘socially unaware’, Doja criticised the actor for posting their private conversation and referred to his behaviour as ‘snake-like’. The singer said that she didn't feel that Noah’s action ‘encapsulated his entire personality’ though. She added “Maybe he is a snake, you know? But like, I didn’t see him that way”.
The singer also clarified her admiration for Joseph as well, saying she did find him attractive, but was ‘embarrassed’ and that it felt ‘degrading’ to have her texts displayed like that.
