Vadivelu, on the other hand, has Naai Sekar, in his kitty. This would mark the veteran comedian's return to acting in Tamil cinema, after four years
A couple of days ago, we had told you Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil joined the sets of Maamannan. A photo of the Vikram actor being welcomed by the cast and crew was doing the rounds on social media. Now, the grapevine has it that Vadivelu will be playing the role of Udhayanidhi Stalin's father in this Mari Selvaraj directorial. Although we await official confirmation on the same, a little birdie tells, Vadivelu's role will be drastically different in this political thriller, (more of a serious one), in contrast to his usual comedy roles.
Also, featuring Keerthy Suresh as the female lead, the first leg of the Maamannan shooting has been over.
The source tells OTTplay, "Mari Selvaraj's both the films, Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan saw Yogi Babu in a serious role. He's trying to do the same with Vadivelu sir. This will break his image mould, and remind the audience of the long-forgotten emotional Vadivelu, who they saw in Kamal Haasan's Thevar Magan!”
Vadivelu, on the other hand, has Naai Sekar, in his kitty. This would mark the veteran comedian's return to acting in Tamil cinema, after four years. He was last seen in Thalapathy Vijay's Mersal.
Directed by Suraaj, Naai Sekar, is a spin-off of his 2006 crime drama, Thalai Nagaram. Vadivelu has been off the spotlight for several years, owing to his political ambitions and disagreements with the industry people.
Bankrolled by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies, Maamannan has music by Oscar-winning composer, AR Rahman; cinematography by Theni Eswar, and editing by Selva RK.
Maamannan is a crucial film for Udhayanidhi Stalin as he's expected to bid adieu to his acting career and plunge into full-time politics. The actor’s latest release was Nenjuku Needhi, directed by Arunraja Kamaraj. And, it’s still in cinemas.
Mari Selvaraj, on the work front, has a sports drama with Dhruv Vikram, in the pipeline.
