Kangana Ranaut, 36, is known not just for her bold and beautiful looks and acting skills but also for her opinions and overall persona. She has been a part of blockbusters like Gangster (2008), Life in a... Metro (2007), Fashion (2008), Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Queen (2014), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019). Next up in line is a film produced by Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika Films - Tiku Weds Sheru – that is directed by Sai Kabir Srivastav and co-written by Srivastav and Amit Tiwari.
With such prolific achievements in her career, Kangana has shared that she once thought to exit the world of Bollywood. She even shared what made her change her decision.
At the trailer launch of the upcoming film, Tiku Weds Sheru, Kangana expressed that she once had hoped not to be a part of Bollywood.
She began by recalling an incident wherein she decided to be a part of a Sai Kabir directorial titled, Divine Lovers in 2014. Later, she decided to not be a part of the film as Sai Kabir was keeping unwell and its then lead actor Irrfan Khan, was not reachable for the shoot. The film did not go on floors and thus, not released.
Kangana goes on to say that Sai Kabir took about four years to recover from an illness. Even Irrfan was not keeping well, she said, who later died in the year 2020 due to cancer.
“Years later, he (Sai Kabir) came back to us with the film. However, Irrfan was not there and that demotivated the team. Around 2020, he (Sai Kabir) said that he wants to see the Kangana he saw about 10 years ago. But I, at that point in time, felt thought about it and said it to myself …. ‘the Kangana who had big dreams in her eyes, the Kangana who was hoping to be a part of Bollywood is no longer there.’ I rejected being a part of the film,” Kangana said.
She goes on to add that she later met Aparna Purohit, the head of Amazon India, who motivated her to bring this project to life and has now come up with Tiku Weds Sheru. This film will be released on June 23 and features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur in key roles.
