The decision was reportedly inspired by the fact that Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Loki series had explored several multiverse elements in their storylines
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is not done with the multiverse just yet. The makers of the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film have taken the decision to further explore the plethora of alternate universes.
The upcoming Doctor Strange sequel has been undergoing ‘significant’ reshoots, as was reported last month, for a number of reasons given by the cast and crew. According to a recent report in The Hollywood Reporter, one of the main reasons for the reshoots were the fact that the film wanted to delve deeper into the multiverse, inspired by the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Loki series. Both the MCU works had explored the multiverse, the term given to a series of alternate realities, in their storylines.
The makers had announced earlier that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ reshoots would take place over the course of at least six weeks, with the cast and crew working on it six days a week. The shoots are scheduled to be completed next week.
The upcoming sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange will see Benedict Cumberbatch reprise his role as the titular sorcerer. The upcoming film also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Xochitl Gomez.
