Writer and Ryan Reynolds opens up about Deadpool's possible cameo in Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now in theatres and the blockbuster is upsetting fans' expectations of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the months prior to its release, the makers had released the poster, which was dogged by rumours and theories, with fans guessing on which MCU characters would appear in Benedict Cumberbatch’s movie. One popular notion was that Multiverse of Madness would have Wade Wilson or Deadpool Ryan Reynolds' first MCU cameo, properly putting him into the franchise's chronology before the impending Deadpool 3.
Although these predictions did not come true because Deadpool did not appear in Multiverse of Madness, the film's author revealed that it was considered. Michael Waldron disclosed to ComicBook.com about his involvement in the Multiverse of Madness was discussed but the film's producers finally decided against it.
In an earlier interview with the portal, Reynolds had said, Deadpool is little like a nerve-wracking wire act for him. He always thinks that once he has gotten Deadpool just right, and speaking from experience with Deadpool 1 and 2, he said he needs to improve it. He says, 'OK, this has to be 30% better than it is now.'
It's a difficult thing to get properly, or at least right in his opinion. So, no, he never really considered that, but considering that he and Taika [Waititi] are in the film, he loved the notion of playing with Deadpool and Korg in some of the marketing materials. So, he had to scratch the itch at some point.
Ryan Reynolds thinks it’s severely unpredictable whenever it comes to that character. "I dig it, man, as long as Disney is open to creating some pretty radically divergent or having some pretty wildly divergent uses of Deadpool. I believe everything is fantastic,” he added.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is currently running in theatres. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film also features Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams in important roles.
On the other hand, there is no update on the release date of Deadpool 3 which was announced way back in 2020.
