Doctor Strange 2 actor Benedict Cumberbatch believes Bollywood should have its own MCU superhero

"I think Bollywood needs to sort of be part of the MCU," said Benedict Cumberbatch.

Benedict Cumberbatch recently spoke about the likelihood of the Hindi film industry, popularly called Bollywood, having its own superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The actor was interacting with the media about his new movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where he spoke about his exposure to Bollywood, its influence and the talent he knows of.

"There are incredible Indian actors, whether they are born in the UK like obviously Sir Ben Kingsley or Dev Patel, who I just had the good fortune to work with. I mean it’s obvious you have an incredibly talented and incredibly thriving cinematic culture and have done it for years. I have loved the filmmakers that have done work in the English language and you’ve had a massive influence. I think Bollywood needs to sort of be part of the MCU. Maybe have a massive dance and bring in the first Indian superhero," said the actor, according to Hindustan Times.

Cumberbatch was also asked whether he envisioned Hrithik Roshan or Shah Rukh Khan as an MCU superhero. News agency PTI writes that the actor chose Khan, who has, coincidentally played a robot superhero in Ra.One. Meanwhile, Roshan has played a masked vigilante Krrish in the movie series.

Doctor Strange 2 is now out in cinemas and has received much praise from Twitterati. The movie also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Xochitl Gomez, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Michael Stuhlbarg in pivotal roles. Sam Raimi, known for helming the Spider-Man trilogy for Sony, returns to direct a superhero movie after more than a decade.
