The movie, which also has Santhy Balachandran and Shine Tom Chacko, is set to release in theatres soon
Actor Soubin Shahir, who is part of the blockbuster Bheeshma Parvam, will next be seen in Sidharth Bharathan’s Djinn, which is gearing for a theatrical release soon. The film’s teaser was released on March 10 through Dulquer Salmaan’s social media page.
The teaser hinted at Soubin playing a character, who is mentally troubled and his state of mind has his family on pins and needles. Apart from promising another riveting performance from the actor, the film also has a stellar cast featuring Shine Tom Chacko, Santhy Balachandran, Sharafudheen and Leona Lishoy.
Scripted by Rajesh Gopinadhan, who had earlier written Dulquer Salmaan and Sai Pallavi-starrer Kali, Djinn is expected to be a pacy drama-thriller. The movie has Angamaly Diaries’ Prashanth Pillai and Girish Gangadharan as its music director and cinematographer, respectively.
The movie also marks the one of final films of KPAC Lalitha, who had passed away last month. After her demise, Soubin had put up a social media post, saying, “Watching her perform and slipping so effortlessly into any character is something I’ve admired with awe. It was a privilege to have shared screen space with Lalithamma as my mother in Djinn.”
Lalitha was also part of Mammootty’s Bheeshma Parvam. Soubin had shared screen space with her in the film too, albeit for one sequence.
Sidharth, who is Lalitha’s son, had earlier helmed Nidra, Chandrettan Evideya and Varnyathil Ashanka. During the pandemic, he had also completed the shoot of Chathuram, which has Roshan Mathew, Alencier Ley, Swasika and Santhy in lead roles.
Djinn, which had completed shooting in 2020, was initially set to hit theatres on March 18. The film has now been pushed to a later date, it seems. The makers are yet to confirm the release date.
