Djinn: Soubin Shahir-led film, helmed by Sidharth Bharathan, to release in theatres on THIS date

The makers of Djinn, starring Soubin Shahir, have unveiled the release date for the Sidharth Bharathan directorial. The filmmaker took to his official social media handles to make the announcement while also unveiling a new poster for the film.

The new poster sees Soubin in the midst of trouble yet again, as he makes a run for it with someone, who is carrying a sickle, in hot pursuit. The film will be released in theatres on May 13, 2022.

The upcoming film, which had wrapped up back in 2020, also features Shine Tom Chacko, Santhy Balachandran, Jaffar Idukki, Gilu Joseph, Sharafudheen, Leona Lishoy, Nishanth Sagar and K. P. A. C. Lalitha. The film marks one of the final performances of veteran actress Lalitha, who passed away this year in February. Director Sidharth is the late actress’ son.

The film’s teaser, which released earlier this month on March 10, hints at Soubin essaying the role of a man who seems to find himself ‘possessed’ at times, taking on the personalities of different people. His ‘situation’ invites worry from those around him, who try everything at their disposal to ‘cure’ his erratic behaviour, including some strange home remedies.

Djinn is written by Rajesh Gopinadhan, whose credits include Dulquer Salmaan and Sai Pallavi starrer Kali (2016). The upcoming film has music composed by Prashanth Pillai and cinematography by Girish Gangadharan. Deepu Joseph has edited the film. The film is bankrolled under the banner of Straight Line Cinemas.
