National Award-winning actress Divya Dutta, who is known for her fine performances in films like Veer-Zaara, Delhi-6, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Ram Singh Charlie, among many others, fondly remembered her mother, Dr Nalini Dutta. After the demise of her father at a young age, Divya and her brother were raised single-handedly by her mother.

Divya has written a memoir titled 'Ma and Me', in which she shares all about the beautiful relationship she had with her mother.

With Mother's Day around the corner, the actress sat down with OTTplay for a quick chat, recalling that she still misses maa ke haath ke parathe and more. Excerpts from a chat...

You were very close to your mother. Was there a film that you and your mother would watch together?

My mother was a huge fan of Dilip Kumar, so we would repeatedly watch all his movies together. Her favourite films were Mughal-E-Azam, Kohinoor, and Amar. I have watched them with my mother so many times.

Did your mother ever scold you as a child?

Well, I have been emotionally oversensitive since childhood. My mother, who was a doctor, was a fighter by all means. I have never seen my mother give up in any situation, and she was the strongest during troublesome times. I always looked for reassurance from her while growing up. She was an amazing woman, full of positivity and energy. She made life seem so easy. I always wondered how she did that because life was tough and we went through difficult times. But all the times that she scolded me are helping me now to take control of my life and stay strong.

Being a Punjabi, food must be important in your house as well. Was there any dish that your mother made that was your favourite?

Maa ke hath mei jaadu hota hai. My mother was a really good cook. Whatever she made was tasty, even the simple food. I do not know why, but I miss maa ke haath ka paratha and aloo ki sabzi.
