The Rana Daggubati, Sai Pallavi starrer is receiving acclaim from the critics and the fraternity alike
Pa. Ranjith has always had a word of praise whenever a filmmaker has raised his voice and spoken for the marginalised through their films. While he praised Telugu film Palasa 1978 a while ago for the sharp storytelling, he has now credited director Venu Udugula for his latest release Virata Parvam. The film starring Rana Daggubati, Sai Pallavi hit theatres on June 17.
Tweeting about the film earlier in the day, Ranjith said that Virata Parvam was the best Telugu film he had watched in recent times. He added that the producers and the director deserve appreciation for making this film without any compromises. “Special appreciations to @RanaDaggubati for accepting &doing this role & @Sai_Pallavi92 has done superbly,” he shared.
Virata Parvam, based on the story of late naxal Sarala, discusses the socio-political situation across various regions in Telangana in the early 1990s. The film, partially inspired by Sarala’s life, talks about a girl Vennela who falls in love with a rebel leader and poet Ravanna and is ready to go to any length to live a life with him.
Sai Chand, Zarina Wahab, Nandita Das, Nivetha Pethuraj, Priyamani, Naveen Chandra and others play important roles in the film. Written and directed by Venu Udugula, the film was produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under SLV Cinemas and presented by Suresh Babu’s Suresh Productions. Suresh Bobbili had scored the music for the film.
