The filmmaker was at his candid best at a media interaction ahead of the Gopichand, Raashi Khanna starrer’s release on July 1
Among the very few filmmakers who’ve made comedy entertainers their forte, director Maruthi is back in action with another action-comedy, Pakka Commercial, that’s set to storm the screens on July 1. Starring Gopichand, Raashi Khanna, Sathyaraj, Sapthagiri and Rao Ramesh, the film is jointly produced by UV Creations and GA2 Pictures.
At the film’s press meet held today, the director told, “One of the most non-commercial people I’ve ever seen is my producer Vamsi, who’ll go to any length to help his friends. While Bunny Vas, the other producer, is reasonably ‘commercial’, Allu Aravind (the film’s presenter) knows where to spend and where to avoid. He’s given advances to so many actors and directors, amounting to crores and never asks them to return it even if he doesn’t do the movie.”
Maruthi said Vamsi was the main reason for Pakka Commercial to go on floors, while he narrated the script to Gopichand after earning a nod from Allu Aravind. “Gopichand agreed to do the film immediately after a three-hour narration and he adapted to the needs of his role with ease. I shared a wonderful rapport with him through the making,” he shared.
The kind of energy that Raashi brought to the role was impeccable and she’s going to bowl everyone over with her performance, Maruthi added. Talking of his inspiration behind the story, he mentioned, “I always get into something with an expectation to earn Rs 5 lakh, but come out of it spending over Rs 15 lakh. I’ve always lost more than I earned and I wrote Pakka Commercial inspired by such incidents.”
The Prathi Roju Pandage director thanked his cast and crew for supporting him through the making and was at his goofy best prior to his speech, while suggesting that everyone in the world is ‘commercial’ to a certain extent.
