Director Hari opens up possibilities of Singam 4, reveals having planned a crossover scene between Saamy and Singam

Director Hari, who is known for helming the Singam film franchise, is currently awaiting the release of his film Rathnam, starring actor Vishal in the lead role. The film is set to hit big screens on April 26. Ahead of the release, Hari opened up about the possibilities of fourth instalment in the Singam franchise and what is he going to work on next.

Speaking during the sidelines of Rathnam promotions, when asked about the possibilities of fourth part in the film series, he replied, "I am not sure how the fourth part in the Singam 4 would be. I would love to do a cop story again and I am working on the story. I will begin with its screenplay after Rathnam, but I am not sure if it will be Singam 4. I am not sure how a fourth part would be after doing three films together in a franchise. I feel a hattrick would be perfect. I am not very much into tapping the franchise name and do another film altogether differently. I don't want to cash in on the franchise name.”

Singam is a cop action-drama film series headlined by actor Suriya, with Anushka Shetty playing the female lead. It follows the adventures of an honest cop Duraisingam who sets out to straighten the society. The first part was out in 2010, followed by other parts releasing in 2010 and 2017.

Hari reveals he planned Saamy and Singam crossover
The director, in another interview, also revealed that he had plans to bring a crossover between his films Singam and Saamy while doing Singam 3. He had said that he wanted to bring Aaru Saamy (Vikram) character from his film Saamy and make him meet Duraisingam in one scene. “I had thought of an airport scene where Aaru Saamy and Duraisingam would meet and they would talk about each other’s villains, while their spouses talk about other things. But I couldn’t figure out the logistics then and we did not go ahead with it,” Hari revealed.
