Director Dr Suri on Bagheera: Bagheera, the action thriller led by Roaring Star Sriimurali, has him in superhero mode
Bagheera is Roaring Star Sriimurali’s first release in almost three years. It’s a film that during the making was often in news because the actor sustained injuries that kept him out of action for lengthy periods of time. And it is now coming to theatres on October 31. Sriimurali’s injuries all came executing stunts in the film, with the action blocks constituting a major chunk of the narrative.

And while the teaser and trailer of the film also hinted at Bagheera being high on action, director Dr Suri is bullish that there’s more than meets the eye. The film, he says, has a simple plotline – it revolves around a man who is a cop by day and crime-fighting vigilante by night. Why would a law enforcing police officer break all that he upholds? That is a major question that drives the narrative of Bagheera, says Dr Suri, adding that the film also explores the dreams and aspirations of a young boy to be a superhero.
Speaking at the film’s trailer launch, the filmmaker said that as much as action is important to Bagheera, so also is emotional drama. “You will find a lot of emotional drama in the film. This is the journey of a small boy who wants to be a superhero and looks at what drives him to pick up a mask and fight against evil in society. What happens to him along the way is the story of Bagheera,” says Dr Suri. He adds that while the film is not realistic, there are scenarios in the protagonist’s life that are close to real-life.
