Dinesh Tej, Hebah Patel and Payal Radhakrishna are coming together for an enjoyable love triangle, Ala Ninnu Cheri, directed by Maresh Shivan. Among from a slew of dubbed release, it is the only major Telugu film gracing the theatres this weekend on November 10. Ahead of its release, Dinesh Tej opens up about the film.

Why Ala Ninnu Cheri?

I’ve tried to do something new with Ala Ninnu Cheri. It’s an out and out commercial film and I hope people like it. The film mirrors the conflict every middle-class boy faces in his life, having to choose between love and ambition. This idea made me accept the film. After the critical acclaim for Play Back, I am optimistic about this.

Carving a niche in cinema

It’s not easy to make your mark in films, everyone has problems of course. One must exercise caution with their script selection and choose scripts that’ll draw audiences to theatres. I play Ganesh in Ala Ninnu Cheri, he’s crazy about cinema, just like me. The camaraderie between me, Hebah, Payal Radhakrishna will be enjoyable.

On working with a capable team

Hebah was a good friend on sets and it was lovely to share screen space. She needs no introduction and Payal Radhakrishna will surprise audiences with her performance. Subhash Anand’s music and Chandrabose garu’s lyrics are a major attraction and you will come out of the theatres humming the songs.

Watch Gadar 2 on OTTplay by subscribing to the Jhakaas pack which provides access to 16 OTTs at just Rs 199/month.

On Maresh Shivan, clash with biggies during Diwali

I and the director had previously worked for Hushaaru. Maresh was the art director for the film. A year after Hushaaru, he came to me and narrated Ala Ninnu Cheri. Given I knew the story already, I said yes. We weren’t aware of clashing with Japan, Jigardhanda Double X, but I believe a good film will always get its due.
