Fahadh Faasil’s latest release is Maamannan, helmed by Mari Selvaraj
Actor-director Dileesh Pothan has expressed his desire to direct Fahadh Faasil in a mass movie. He said that his filmography might include both entertaining and serious movies in the future. Dileesh - who has directed films like Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum Joji and Maheshinte Prathikaram - also spoke about his signature style in a recent interview.
“As a filmmaker, I wish to make all kinds of movies in different genres. I haven’t done or attempted a mass film yet. But regardless of the genre, my movies will always bear my signature style, which is unavoidable,” he told Silly Monks channel.
Adding to that, Dileesh said, “I would like to believe that all my films are different from each other. I can’t find similarities between Joji Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum and Maheshinte Prathikaram. But the audience brackets these movies as realistic films. Anyway, I will go forward with my conviction.”
Meanwhile, a lot is going on for Dileesh in the industry. He has been trying his luck in Malayalam cinema as an actor, director and also producer. He played the lead role in the recent movie O.Baby helmed by Ranjan Pramod. The plot delves into people’s inner psyche, as they yearn to escape from the oppressive feudal environment. Dileesh was lauded for his performance in the film as Baby, who is the manager of a family’s cardamom estate in Wayanad.
His production company Bhavana Studios bankrolled several films like Kumbalangi Nights and Palthu Janwar. The recently released Thankam which got critical acclaim despite its box office failure, was also backed by Bhavana Studios. Joji was Dileesh’s last directorial, and now there are rumours about him directing Mammootty in his latest movie.
Fahadh, on the other hand, has tasted both success and failure so far this year. His Dhoomam with the director of Lucia, failed at the box office, while Maamannan and Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum garnered a positive response. The actor has an Alphonse Puthren movie and the sequel of Pushpa: The Rise in the pipeline.
