Premalu, starring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju in lead roles, is all set to hit the big screen on February 9.
During a press conference held in Kochi to promote the film Premalu, actor, director, and producer Dileesh Pothan gave an explanation for why his production company, Bhavana Studio, chose to bankroll the upcoming Malayalam film. The romantic comedy drama, starring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju in lead roles is all set to hit the big screen on February 9.
Dileesh claimed that Girish AD, the film's director, was the only reason he decided to produce Premalu, given the latter's previous works, Super Sharanya and Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, which are well-liked by viewers due to their simple but captivating storylines. “We had discussions with Girish about working together on a movie following his first feature film, Thanneer Mathan Dinangal,” he added. He asserted that they did not ask Girish to work on any specific genre, just any story that he enjoyed.

The Bheeshma Parvam actor went on to say that he personally enjoyed Girish's works and that he asked the latter to use this new movie to explore relationship dynamics in the post-school or post-college era. He continued, "The movie also features an ensemble cast of actors who will entice the audience, especially young ones, to theatres."
Regarding his approach to filmmaking, Dileesh stated that his goal is to create films that will draw viewers to theatres through high-quality content. He continued by saying that giving each character the attention they deserve and incorporating an organic storytelling style into his films is his top priority.
“I was not a confident filmmaker when I directed Maheshinte Prathikaaram. Ultimately, though, the audience gets to choose the fate of a movie. Because people have different opinions, some films work and sometimes they do not,” he said.
Director Dileesh Pothan, writer Syam Pushkaran and actor Fahadh Faasil have partnered up with this entertainment company. They have produced a number of box office hits, such as Thankam and Kumbalangi Nights, as well as a direct OTT-release, Joji.
