The leading Telugu producer confirmed the news at the success meet of Balagam held yesterday
There’re very few producers in Telugu cinema who’ve exhibited a good taste for scripts as consistently as Dil Raju in the recent decades. From Arya to Bommarillu to Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu to Shatamanam Bhavati and Vakeel Saab, he’s backed some of the finest Telugu films to have come out of the industry, uniting with leading names and also being a ‘star maker’ when necessary.
With Balagam, the producer surprised many by introducing comedian Venu Yeldandi (Tillu) as a director. At the success meet of the Priyadarshi, Kavya Kalyanram starrer held yesterday, he confirmed another project under his banner. He’ll be teaming up with director Harish Shankar for a biggie after the latter wraps up the filming of Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Gabbar Singh.
Directors Harish Shankar, Venu Sriram and Parasuram Petla were the chief guests for the event as well. “Harish Shankar said he was surprised to know why he was invited as the chief guest for the event. I’d want to share that we’re teaming up for a film again after he finishes Pawan Kalyan’s film. The trio of Venu, Harish and Parasuram is my ‘Balagam’,” shared Dil Raju.
“While my nephew, daughter Harshith and Hanshitha Reddy produced the film, they requested me to actively promote it and take it to audiences because it deserved that push. Nearly 30000 people watched Balagam on the first day and by the first weekend, over four lakh people caught it in theatres. I’m sure that the count will reach 40 lakh soon as well,” he added.
“There hasn’t been a day in the last week where I haven’t received messages about Balagam, people are moved and sharing their excitement with me. The biggest achievement for the film is that the likes of Chiranjeevi too watched it and conveyed their appreciation for the team in an extensive conversation,” Dil Raju stated. The producer’s next biggie is Ram Charan starrer RC15, helmed by director Shankar.
