The actor finally addresses the incident during the shooting of Ticket to Bollywood, when Amyra Dastur flung a stiletto at him that hit his eye.
Almost six years, Kannada actor Diganth had an experience he will never forget. On the set of his Hindi film Ticket to Bollywood, his co-star Amyra Dastur flung a stiletto at him that quite literally caught his eye. The injury resulted in the actor losing much of his vision. “Amyra tried to make the shot as realistic as possible and flung the shoe directly at my face, instead of angling it away. It’s as good as organ loss. I have only about 20% vision in that eye now. Nothing can be done; I guess that’s my fate. But if I could go back in time and change something, it would be the injury to my eye,” he said, during a recent promotional interview for his upcoming release, Thimayya and Thimayya.
The film, which releases on December 2, is Diganth’s sixth film with veteran actor Anant Nag. They play a grandson and grandfather duo, who have fundamental differences and then find a way to bond again. The film also stars Shubra Aiyappa, Aindrita Ray, Prakash Thuminad and Vineeth Beep Kumar, among others. Diganth, who is currently nursing a torn tendon on his left leg, as well as a continuing issue from an earlier spine injury, has been busy promoting Thimayya and Thimayya, which has been directed by debutant Sanjay Sharma.
Once his leg heals, he has to return to the set of Bachelor Party, one schedule of which has been completed. “The team has to find a replacement for Rishab Shetty, who was to play one of the roles in the Rakshit Shetty production. Since the success of Kantara, he has been busy with promotions and is now beginning work on a sequel,” Diganth had said. Apart from that, he is also looking forward to the release of Yada Yadahi, the Kannada remake of Evaru, in which he is joined by Hariprriya and Vasishta N Simha. There’s also Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana, a film about the problems faced by left-handers.
