One of the most adaptable actors in the Indian film business is Vijay Sethupathi. For his legendary roles in movies like Vikram, Master, Vikram Vedha, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, and others, he is well-known. The audience also praised his performance on his OTT debut, The Family Man by Raj & DK. The actor is currently prepared to wow us with his performance in the upcoming movie Jawan wherein he will be seen as a baddie. South star Nayanthara makes her Hindi film debut in the Atlee-directed Shah Rukh Khan starrer movie.
For the uninformed, the crime drama Mumbaikar, which debuted on JioCinema in June of this year, served as Vijay's Bollywood debut. However, not many people are aware that Laal Singh Chaddha, which was released last year, was intended to be the actor's Bollywood debut alongside Aamir Khan.
Sethupathi accepted Aamir's offer to star in the Advait Chandan film when they met in Chennai, but then he rejected the role.
Here's why Vijay Sethupathi said NO to Laal Singh Chadha
In an interview with The News Minute in 2021, Vijay revealed: "Aamir sir personally offered me the role. He then flew down to Tamil Nadu where I was shooting to narrate the script to me. For some reason the director Advait Chandan couldn’t come. Aamir sir came alone, narrated the script and stayed overnight in that town and left the next morning. Such a big superstar and no airs. And he is a marvelous storyteller. The way he narrated the story was mesmerizing. I immediately said yes. But then Covid happened. It ransacked all our plans. After the lockdown I had five Telugu projects in various stages of production to complete. I just couldn’t accommodate Laal Singh Chaddha in my schedule."
Naga Chaitanya took over the role that was offered to Vijay Sethupathi
Laal Singh Chaddha's character of Vijay Sethupathi was eventually taken over by Naga Chaitanya, who also made his Bollywood debut in the 2022 movie, which bombed at the box office.
About Jawan
Directed by Atlee, Jawan will see Vijay Sethupathi as a villain. The film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara also has a cameo appearance by Deepika Padukone. The movie will premiere on September 7th, 2023.
