Directed by Vetrimaaran, Viduthalai, which starred Soori and Vijay Sethupathi, released in 2023. Its sequel is awaited
At a recent event, filmmaker-turned-politician Seeman revealed something interesting about Vetrimaaran's 2023 blockbuster Viduthalai. He said that he was approached to play the role of ‘Perumal Vaathiyar’ in the film. However, he could not take up the offer and it eventually went to Vijay Sethupathi. “Actually I was supposed to play the role of ‘Perumal Vaathiyar’ in Viduthalai which has been done fabulously by my brother Vijay Sethupathi. Vetrimaaran asked me why I didn't grow a beard then (for the character), and why have I grown a beard now. I said you never asked me to (laughs)."
This has shocked fans who never thought that Seeman could have played the role that was finally taken up by Vijay Sethupathi. Many took to their social media handles to express their surprise over the revelation.
Seeman, who is known for his humorous speeches, did not hesitate to pull Vetrimaaran’s leg about the sequel to Viduthalai. He and the filmmaker were on the same stage during an event. “Vetrimaaran promised us to give us the second part of Vada Chennai, which never came out. Now, with Viduthalai he has no choice but to make the second part soon.” Turning towards Vetrimaaran, Seeman added, “Vetrimaaran, please don’t delay this too!”
