"Killer, Killer, Captain Miller!" has already become one of the most quoted lines from Tamil star Dhanush's upcoming movie Captain Miller. However, many may not the actual inspiration behind the title comes from the Hollywood classic Saving Private Ryan.

Directed by legendary director Steven Spielberg, Saving Private Ryan came out in the year 1998. It remains one of the most celebrated anti-war movies to date. The film follows a precarious mission of a group of soldiers, who travel across war-ravaged Europe to spot and rescue a low-raking soldier named Ryan. This humanitarian mission amid absolute man-made depravity is led by Tom Hank's John H. Miller, also known as Captain Miller.

Director Arun Matheswaran recently revealed the original inspiration behind the title, clearing a popular misconception about the movie. The earlier speculation claimed that Captain Miller was named after a slain LTTE operative Vallipuram Vasanthan, known by the nom de guerre Miller.

According to reports, Vallipuram Vasanth is a revered rebel among the Sri Lankan Tamils. He died in 1987 and he was posthumously promoted to the rank of captain. Many assumed that Captain Miller was based on the life of this LTTE leader. But, following Arun Matheswaran's recent revelation it doesn't seem to be the case.

Captain Miller created quite a hype with its recent trailer, revealing the fierce avatar of Dhanush. Judging from the trailer, it's safe to assume that the film tells the story of a former member of the British police force becoming a nightmare to the Empire. The trailer describes the protagonist as "a dacoit in the eyes of the Britishers."

The promo video a glimpse into the scale of the movie, promising a thrilling ride filled with non-stop action and plenty of high-octane drama. Besides Dhanush, the film also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Aditi Balan, Sundeep Kishan, Edward Sonnenblick and John Kokken.

Captain Miller is due in cinemas on January 12, coinciding with the Pongal celebration. It will be released in cinemas in Tamil, Kannada and Hindi.
