Carey Mulligan, who has been nominated for Oscars two times, first for An Education and second for Promising Young Woman, will be next seen in the biographical drama, Maestro. She worked opposite Bradley Cooper. The film made its World Premiere at the 80th Venice Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Golden Lion.

Maestro story

The story of Maestro centres on the relationship between American composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia Montealegre, who was a Costa Rican-Chilean actress. It shows how Felicia met Leonard when she was just a new actress in the US, and later got married to him in 1951 and had three children. The film will also show despite being married to a woman, how Leonardo was actually attracted towards men.

Carey's little secrets

However, recently Carey Mulligan had a fascinating interview with Variety, where she talked about her character Felicia, her experience working with Cooper, and more. Not only did she talk about Maestro but she also expressed her feelings about other works as well. For example, while talking about her debut film, Pride & Prejudice, she recalled that she was just 18 years old in 2005.

Although Mulligan made her stage debut in the play Forty Winks at the Royal Court Theatre, her first on-screen dialogue was – “The regiments are coming! They're to be stationed the whole winter in the village, just right there”. This dialogue is taken Pride & Prejudice where Kitty attends Mr. Darcy’s royal ball party at the palace.

Carey was just a teenager

It's surprising to know that Carey had her first on-screen dialogue in Pride & Prejudice when she was just 18 years old, and became 19 during the shooting. She also shared that back then she was absolutely naive about films and shooting, and had no idea what was going on. As her character Kitty is always seen twinning with Lydia Bennet, Carey recalled that she used to follow Jena Malone desperately.

Maestro directed and also starring Bradley Cooper as Leonard Bernstein, and Carey Mulligan as Felicia Montealegre, is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on November 22, before streaming on Netflix on December 20, 2023.
