Grapevine has it that Manju Warrier would be joining Ajith's upcoming film with director H Vinoth, tentatively titled AK 61. The Malayalam actor has now confirmed this in a press interaction. Manju Warrier, further, revealed, "AK 61 is a promising project." However, she was tight-lipped about other details like the genre of the film, and who else was on board, besides her; so on. Touted to be a heist thriller, team AK 61 is currently shooting in Hyderabad.

According to Cinema Express, Manju Warrier has a handful of projects coming up in Malayalam. Her next release will be the Santosh Sivan directorial Jack N' Jill, slated to hit screens on May 20. She also has Meri Awas Suno, Vellaripattanam, Ayisha, Padavettu and her Hindi debut Amriki Pandit lined up. A few weeks ago, it was reported that Tabu will be reuniting with Ajith after 22 years for the film and was expected to play the female lead. Now that Manju Warrier has been roped in as the female lead of AK 61, we learn that she has replaced Tabu.

Ajith and Tabu played lead roles in Kandukondain Kandukondain, directed by Rajiv Menon.

A report published in The Times of India, says, Tabu was never part of AK 61. The report claimed, "A source close to the team says they haven't approached any actor before Manju Warrier; thereby indirectly denying Tabu's participation in the film."

If reports turn out to be true, Ajith will be seen in a dual role, and the actor has been on a mission to lose weight to sport a fit look.

Ghibran, who earlier did the final mixing for Valimai, has replaced Yuvan Shankar Raja to score the music for AK 61. However, an official word is awaited.

According to a report published in The Times of India, "A massive set of Mount Road has been erected in a studio in Hyderabad, where the team will be shooting a major chunk of the film. One of the key components of the setup is a bank. The story revolves around a bank, what happens in it and how Ajith’s character is involved in it. Vinoth had done extensive research for this script.”

While Nirav Shah is cranking the camera, Supreme Sundar has been roped in to handle the action choreography. Unlike what’s being reported, this is not the first script that Vinoth narrated to Ajith. "The director had given the one-liner of the script to Ajith while shooting for Valimai, and he immediately gave his nod. The actor loved how his character is neither good nor bad in the film," tells a source to the Times of India.
