Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is awaiting the release of Vikram, has revealed he asked Kamal Haasan if he could do his make-up and the actor agreed. In an interview with Galatta, the filmmaker said, the reason Kamal Haasan was interested in doing his make-up has always puzzled him. “I asked him 'ungaluku edhuku makeup'. He explained the story behind it. We had to apply blood make-up for the movie. I asked him if he wanted me to do this particular look for him. He was happy to say 'yes'. The process took me about 30 minutes. After seeing it, he asked who was responsible for maintaining its consistency. I told him that if he is okay with it, I will handle it from now on. As a result, I was the first director to do the make-up for Kamal Haasan. I was his make-up artist for 32 days!”

Billed as a high-octane action drama, Vikram also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil. The film is slated to be released on June 3.

Lokesh went on to reveal how Kamal Haasan signed on the dotted line of the project in the look of the octogenarian Senapathy character from Indian 2. “As a fanboy, I always yearned to get an autograph from him. To see him come in the look of Indian thatha and sign the agreement as producer, I can’t express it in words," he was quoted saying in The Hindustan Times.

Vikram, which is gearing up for release on June 3, was supposed to be wrapped up last November. The shoot had to be postponed after Kamal Haasan tested positive for the coronavirus. Eventually, the makers decided to shoot the entire schedule indoors in a specially built set for the sake of Kamal’s health.

Haasan, who had started filming for Vikram last July, in February exited the reality TV series Bigg Boss Ultimate, as its host owing to scheduling conflicts with the film.

Vikram has a runtime of 173 minutes. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for Vikram. The film has cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, edits handled by Philomin Raj and stunts choreographed by Anbariv.
