The Brahmastra actress spoke of her special fondness for the Indian classical form of dance and why, especially, Kathakali is closest to her heart
Actress Mouni Roy has charmed everyone with her grace and great fashion sensibilities. And as the judge of the ongoing season of Dance India Dance L'il Masters (along with Sonali Bendre and Remo D'Souza), Mouni has also presented her artistic side to her fans to a mesmeric effect. A most elegant dancer herself, Brahmastra actress is known to have a particular fondness for the Indian classical form and the upcoming episode of DID L'il Masters will enunciate just that.
All the ardent DID patrons are in for a special treat this week as ace choreographers Geeta Kapur and Terrance Lewis grace the show as judges. And to make things all the more exciting, the two guests will be challenging the little contestants with different acts on the stage. While each contestant managed to live up to the hype and challenge put forth, it was Aarav's breathtaking Kathakali rendition on the grand stage that won everyone's hearts, especially Mouni Roy's. So much so that Mouni would get emotional and spare a few words about why the dance form of Kathakali is closest to her heart.
“First, I would like to thank Geeta Ma for giving Aarav this challenge of performing a Kathakali act for all of us. I feel it is very important for us to show the audience our classical dance forms as well - our culture is very beautiful, and Kathakali is a dance form that includes storytelling and an expression of our feelings and emotions through our eyes. I feel Aarav did full justice to this dance form today on DID L’il Masters. I must add that Kathakali is an art form of the Malayalam-speaking, south-western region of Kerala and it is very close to my heart as a person from Kerala (referring to her husband, Suraj Nambiar) is also very close to my heart," said Mouni Roy in her short but heartfelt speech.
Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar are said to have met at a party in 2019 in Dubai and began dating soon after. The couple tied the wedding knot on January 27 of 2022 in a rather exquisite destination setting in Goa that included both South Indian and Bengali weddings with complete authenticity. Suraj Nambiar is reportedly a Dubai-based businessman and investment banker who also co-owns an event management company.
