Ajith Kumar's AK62 will be helmed by Magizh Thirumeni.
Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's much-talked-about project, which is tentatively titled AK 62, was reportedly launched earlier this week. The event was kept under wraps and away from the media glare for some unknown reasons. It's said that the film launch took place with a customary puja.
It's noteworthy that the filmmakers seem to have taken a leaf out of the playbook of Thalapathy 67. The makers of the Vijay starrer kept the media away from the launch event. The secrecy helped the filmmakers to create a lot of excitement among the movie-going audience. After a few weeks after the launch, the producers released the promotional teaser featuring Vijay and revealed the film's title as Leo.
It seems that Lyca Productions is also following the same path to ramp up the excitement. The buzz is that the filmmakers are planning to unveil the title of the project soon. The regular shooting of the movie will begin in the first week of March.
As per the reports, Magizh Thirumeni has been zeroed in on to direct Ajith's 62nd film. And cinematographer Nirav Shah has been roped in for the project. Composer Anirudh Ravichander, who is also scoring for Vijay's Leo, is also part of the project. Magizh is said to have tapped Arun Vijay to play a key role in the film. Arun has already shared screen space with Ajith in the 2015 hit Yennai Arindhaal. And actor Arulnithi has also been reportedly approached to be part of the cast. An official word on the film's cast and crew, however, is awaited.
Director Vignesh Shivan was supposed to helm AK62. However, the filmmaker was dropped without any clear explanation from the producers. Magizh of Thadam fame was later roped in to direct Ajith's next film.
