In 2021, the Amazon Prime Video series ‘Tandav’ was accused of hurting the religious sentiments of a section of the audience. This development hampered the public image of the OTT platform and the filmmakers back then. Switching to 2023, OTT platforms are now exercising caution while releasing projects based on sensitive issues. In the latest development, eminent filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee upset with Netflix dumping Naseeruddin Shah starrer 'Tees'. Here is what it is about.

“You were asking me which was the last film I have not been able to come out of? It is my last film, Tees, which Netflix is yet to release. They commissioned it, it is fully made, they bought it as well,” he said.

When asked why Netflix is not releasing the film, the filmmaker said, “It is best to ask them. They told us that they are not sure if this is the right time to release the film. Later they gave a statement in an interview and said that the film didn’t fit their slate.”

The filmmaker, known for his strong anti-establishment stance and dedication to socio-political themes in his movies, revealed that he undertook the project Tees with a "hidden agenda." His aim was for the film to resonate with the same audience that embraced his initial work, Khosla Ka Ghosla.
