Weekend Blockbusters, the producers of Minnal Murali and RDX, announced their next project today, September 3. The film, titled, Detective Ujjwalan, stars Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead role. This movie, which is being directed by Indraneel Gopeekrishnan and Rahul G, is produced by Sophia Paul under the Weekend Blockbusters label. It is also labeled as the second entry in the Weekend Cinematic Universe.

In the project's announcement video, Dhyan plays Ujjwalan, a private investigator who longs to crack a major case but is only called on for absurd ones. The video suggests that he may be receiving a big case with a cold-blooded murderer. Fans of the actor are eagerly anticipating the appearance of a well-known industry figure in the role of the adversary, but it is unclear who will portray the antagonist. Film enthusiasts are also speculating about the film's connection with Minnal Murali.

Weekend Blockbusters' other projects

The production house rose to fame by bankrolling Tovino Thomas-starrer Minnal Murali, which is available to stream on Netflix. Its next project, RDX: Robert Dony Xavier was a super hit at the box office. The action drama, starring Antony Varghese, Shane Nigam, and Neeraj Madhav, proved to be an immense success during the same holiday season last year despite being released alongside highly-anticipated films starring big stars such as King of Kotha.

After RDX's huge success, Kondal is Weekend Blockbusters' seventh production. The movie, which features Antony Varghese in a lead role, is all set to hit the big screen on September 13, this Onam.

Dhyan is a busy actor in the Malayalam industry, with several films lined up for release this year. He also played a pivotal role in a few highly anticipated flicks in the first half of 2024, including Varshangalkku Shesham, Nadikar, and Malayalee From India. Both Varshangalkku Shesham and Malayalee From India are streaming in Sony LIV in multiple languages. His upcoming movies include Cop Uncle, Bha Bha Ba, and Anand Sreebala.
