Two years after it was first meant to be in theatres, Martin is gearing up for a festival release
Dhruva Sarja’s Martin has been in the making for nearly 3 years and had multiple release date announcements. It was initially meant to clash with Kantara in September 2022 and was then pushed to the following March. Since then, there’s been no news of when the film could be expected in theatres. Today, director AP Arjun, producer Uday K Mehta and lead actor Dhruva Sarja have made a promise and this will be the final release date. Martin, they said, will be in theatres across the world on October 11, 2024, for Dasara, in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. This means that Martin will take on NTR Jr’s pan-India film Devara during the festive season.
Dhruva Sarja: Martin release date will depend on completion of VFX work
Speaking to the media earlier today, the team clarified that the delay in the making was owing to the scale of the making and the post-production. The film was shot in close to 250 days, much of which will be a theatrical spectacle, Dhruva said. “This is the first time that Arjun Sarja has written the story and screenplay for me, so it was important to us that we execute it correctly,” he added. Producer Uday Mehta added that the film is currently in re-recording, with dubbing in the other languages also ongoing. The delay, he said, is also in part owing to the fact that the film has a lot of VFX work, as well as that much of Martin is action, all of which took time.

With the release date announcement, the team is now ready to begin promotions, for which they are launching an official website, where they will launch polls to gather inputs on what fans want to see and in which order. There are four songs, a teaser and a trailer. The decision to release during Dasara probably comes from the fact that Challenging Star Darshan’s Devil-The Hero has been moved ahead to Christmas.
