Fans who were waiting for an update on the AP Arjun directorial were left disappointed
If the makers had stuck to their original plan, Dhruva Sarja’s Martin would have been in theatres in September last year. But delays in production meant that the film did not meet that date and since then, there’s been no update on when Martin could be expected after all. After winding up the talkie portions of Martin, Dhruva had begun work on his next – KD The Devil – for which he lost much of the muscle mass that he had gained for his massive look in the AP Arjun directorial. At the time, the songs of Martin were still pending, and the team got busy with other post-production work.
Last month, it was heard that Dhruva and the girls of Martin – Vaibhavi Shandilya and Anveshi Jain – were in Bengaluru and shooting for the pending songs of the film, signalling that the film could not be far off. In fact, an announcement on the release was expected on Dhruva’s birthday today (October 6), but speaking to the media, the actor said that the team was still expecting final output for some VFX portions and that until and unless that is satisfactory, they will not be in a position to promise a date. He, however, reassured them that other post-production work is almost done, with dubbing and editing completed and re-recording in progress.
Martin is Dhruva’s second film with Arjun, who launched him years ago with Addhuri, and first collaboration with producer Uday K Mehta. The duo was earlier meant to do a film called Dubaari, with Nandakishore as the director, but that fell through and instead Arjun was roped in to direct Martin, which is based on a story by Dhruva’s uncle, Action King Arjun Sarja. A teaser that came out in February this year was a stylistically shot, action packed video, which did not shine much light on the subject.
