The actor worked in the serial for five years.
After five years of playing Karan Luthra on TV, popular actor Dheeraj Dhoopar has decided to quit Ekta Kapoor’s Kundali Bhagya. Along with Shraddha Arya, Dheeraj became a household name due to the show. According to his team, his exit from the show was pre-planned and was oriented according to the changes. According to media reports, the actor said that it was his time to move on.
Dheeraj has always expressed his love and appreciation for Ekta Kapoor. He also acknowledges that she is the reason for his musical success. Talking about Ekta, he said, “I've always made it clear what the show means to me. And this is entirely due to Ekta’s efforts. My relationship with her has progressed over time – from her initial vision of me as Karan Luthra to her current support for me in whatever I do. My friendship with Ekta can only get better from here. People can say whatever they want, and legends can spread, but only Ekta and I will know what we share.”
The actor also said that it was a ‘heartfelt farewell’ to one of India's most beloved shows. “There were certain changes which I fully accepted. We, as a team, decided to proceed. We never know what the future has in store for Kundali Bhagya and Karan Luthra. I'm not ruling out the possibility of returning to the show,” he said.
Talking about his plans, Dheeraj said in an interview that he wishes to enter Bollywood, OTT and Punjabi films and he has been trying for nearly one-and-a-half years. He explained that he could see that things have started shaping up. He clearly stated that he would like to work on interesting projects and will not take up something just for the sake of working in a different medium. He claimed that he would like to work on all the platforms.
