After all the hype, this week saw the grand release of Karan Johar’s most awaited film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani’. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, alongwith the veteran actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi in important roles. The response to the film is definitely encouraging as many of the cinegoers are walking out of the theatres with a smile on their faces. The talking point of the film has been Karan Johar’s direction and the onscreen chemistry between Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Amidst all this, people have also been talking about the on-screen kiss between the veteran actor Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi.

While on the topic of the on-screen kiss between Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi, the veteran actor spoke to News18 about the same. He said that he had been hearing that Shabana and he had surprised the audience with the kissing scene, and at the same time they had even applauded it. He added that he thought that I think people weren’t expecting it and it came very suddenly which was why it created an impact. The veteran actor even recalled the last time he did a kissing scene. He said that the last time he did a kissing scene was with Nafisa Ali in (Anurag Basu’s slice of life film) ‘Life In A Metro’. Dharmendra pointed out that, even at that time people had appreciated it.

Speaking about ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani’, Dharmendra said (with a laugh) that when Karan Johar had narrated the scene, he did not get excited. He added that they understood it and he realised that it was something that the film required and wasn’t forcefully put in. Post that, he said he would do it. The thespian actor also added that he believed that there was no age for romance and that age was just a number and two people irrespective of age will show their love for each other by kissing. Dharmendra said that both (Shabana Azmi and him) did not feel any kind of awkwardness while doing it as it was very aesthetically shot.

While calling ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani’ as a fantastic film, Dharmendra believed that he could have done better in the film. The veteran actor even made it a point to appreciate Karan Johar by calling him a good director and that enjoyed their collaboration completely. He even extended his compliments to Ranveer Singh by calling him a terrific actor and Alia Bhatt as a natural one. Amidst all this, Dharmendra added that he was impressed with Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi as well.
