Dhanya Ramkumar’s next is a legal thriller with Diganth and Crazy Star Ravichandran

Dhanya Ramkumar, the granddaughter of Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar and daughter of veteran actor Ramkumar, is set to begin work on another exciting project. The actress, who debuted in Sandalwood in 2021 with Ninna Sanihake, has not had another release since, although she is committed to a film with Vikky Varun called Kaala Pathar, a mystery thriller called Hide and Seek and an untitled family entertainer with director P Vasu.
Her latest signing has Dhanya collaborate with Crazy Star Ravichandran on a legal thriller called The Judgement, a film that will also have Diganth, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy and Roopa Rayappa, among others on board. The film is being directed by Gururaj Kulkarni, who made the thriller Amruth Apartments earlier. “I am blessed to have got this opportunity to work with seasoned artistes like Ravi sir, Lakshmi ma’am or even Diganth, for that matter. When Gururaj sir narrated the script, I was instantly hooked. Then, when he said that the title was The Judgement, I felt that it would create curiosity among audiences,” said Dhanya.
In the film, Ravichandran plays a character who believes in the law and upholds it to the tee, while Dhanya is at the other end of the spectrum and fighting the justice system. Speaking at the film’s title launch, Ravichandran said, “In this day and age of OTTs, audiences expect fresh and intriguing content. This film will fall in that category.”
Explaining what the film is about, Gururaj says, “The Judgement is about the Indian legal system. Every now and then, there may be instances when we get frustrated and angry with the law, but this is a film, wherein Ravichandran sir’s character will establish just how perfect the justice system actually is.”
Although the title launch was held on April 21, the film will go on floors officially only on April 24, the birth anniversary of Dr Rajkumar, who Gururaj considers a guiding force.
