The Karthik Subbaraj-directorial will release exclusively on Netflix,
Dhanush’s movies are set to rule the next two months on OTT! After a lot of speculations, the makers of the Karthik Subbaraj directorial Jagame Thandhiram announced the release date of the Dhanush, which will stream online on Netflix.
In a tweet by the film’s producers Y Not Studio on Tuesday, they revealed, “#JagameThandhiram from June 18 only on Netflix.” Fans of the Tamil star had been waiting with bated breath ever since it was leaked that the movie’s digital rights were sold to Netflix. While it was speculated that the makers did contemplate on releasing the movie in theatres too, the second wave of COVID-19 forced their hand for a direct-to-OTT release.
Interestingly, before Jagame Thandhiram, his critically acclaimed film Karnan is also expected to hit OTT screens. Amazon Prime Video is said to have purchased the film’s digital rights and the Mari Selvaraj-directorial could begin streaming by mid May. An official release date is yet to be announced.
Apart from Dhanush, both Jagame Thandhiram and Karnan boast of an eclectic ensemble cast. While Jagame Thandhiram has Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, James Cosmo and Kalairasan, Karnan features Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Yogi Babu and Gouri Kishan.
Dhanush has also wrapped up shooting for Atrangi Re, which also stars Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan. The Kollywood actor is currently shooting in California, USA, for the Antony and Joe Russo-directorial The Gray Man, which has Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling in the lead. The Hollywood film is also a Netflix production.
