Bankrolled by Sathya Jyothi Films, Captain Miller, headlined by Dhanush, has music by GV Prakash.
We had told you Dhanush and director Arun Matheswaran (who rose to fame with Rocky and Saani Kaayidham) would collaborate on Captain Miller. Bankrolled by Sathya Jyothi Films, this action adventure, will be set in the Madras Presidency of the 1930s and 40s. The first look of Captain Miller was unveiled recently, which had Dhanush riding a motorbike holding a rifle, and his face was covered with a mask.
While the rest of the cast will be announced soon, Captain Miller, which has music by GV Prakash, will go on floors next month.
Captain Miller, scheduled to release in 2023, has Madhan Karky on dialogues, Shreyaas Krishna (of Jagame Thanthiram-fame) on cinematography, Nagooran on editing, Dhilip Subbarayan on stunt choreography and Tha Ramalingam (of Sarpatta Parambarai-fame) on production design.
Arun Matheswaran started writing this story in 2018 and pitched it to Dhanush. Although nothing materialised immediately, things began to fall in place, eventually, in 2019. Confirmed sources told OTTplay that the actor would sport three looks in the film.
Hearsay is that this would be a trilogy, targeted at the mainstream audience. Reports suggest that the second half of Captain Miller will have war-related sequences, too. When Arun Matheswaran started writing this one, he didn't have a specific actor in mind. But mid-way, the director realised if Dhanush came into this film, it was going to be apt.
The makers of Captain Miller plan to shoot the film in Tamil across India and dub it in multiple languages like Pushpa: The Rise and KGF Franchise.
“I filmed Rocky in 27 days and Saani Kaayidham in 42 days. But for Captain Miller, we have planned the shoot across 120 days and the set work is taking place. The movie will go on floors in mid-August,” Arun Matheswaran told DT Next.
