The film, which will be his first direct release in Telugu, is being jointly produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas
Dhanush is conquering one frontier after the other in the film world in a way only he can. After acting in Hindi, Tamil and English films, the National-award winning performer will be seen in his first Telugu film, written and directed by Venky Atluri (the filmmaker behind Rang De, Mr Majnu and Tholi Prema). Sai Soujanya and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi are jointly producing the film under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas (founded by filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas).
"My next Tamil film and my first direct telugu film .. title announcement tom.. Om Namashivaaya," the actor tweeted and shared a poster that announces the film as 'Production 14'. The title of the film will be announced tomorrow. The poster is set in the backdrop of an old book with a few torn pages. Is that an indication of the film's timeline? We'll have an answer tomorrow i.e. December 23 at 9.36 AM.
It's well known that Dhanush will also begin shooting for another Telugu film with filmmaker Sekhar Kammula, to be produced by Narayan Das Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao under Sree Venkateswara Cinemas. The Sekhar Kammula-Dhanush collaboration will have a release in multiple languages - Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. Meanwhile, the actor's next release is Atrangi Re, a film directed by Aanand L Rai, where he co-stars Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar.
Atrangi Re, which has music by AR Rahman, is scheduled to premiere directly on Disney+ Hotstar on December 24. His Tamil film with director Karthick Naren, titled Maaran, where he pairs up with Malavika Mohanan, is expected to hit theatres soon.
