Ravi Arasu's Ayngaran has been lying in the cans for a few years. The movie which has GV Prakash and Mahima Nambiar playing lead roles was supposed to release a few times earlier, but the makers have been postponing its release multiple times owing to different reasons.

They finally came up with a release date as May 5 recently, but the last minute financial hurdles made it difficult for them again, and they had to announce its postponement news again. Earlier today, GV Prakash had informed through his social media page that Dhanush will be announcing the new release date of the project soon.

According to the tweet from Asuran star, Ayngaran has now been slated for a theatrical release on May 12. He tweeted, "#ayngaran releases in theatres on MAY 12th . Hearing a lot of positive reviews. Best of luck @gvprakash god bless (sic)."

GV was the music composer for many films of Dhanush, including the latter's previous outing Maaran (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar). The actor-filmmaker had unveiled the teaser of GV Prakash's recent release Jail as well.

Movie buffs are looking forward to knowing if Ayngaran will finally make it to the theatres on May 12. The thriller flick, which has GV essaying an engineering student, will be the actor-musician's second film this year after Selfie (streaming on aha Tamil) which was released in April.

Vaaitha was another movie which postponed its release from last week because of non-availability of theatres in Tamil Nadu. They are yet to come up with a new release date, though. Seenu Ramasamy's Idi Muzhakkam is likely to be GV Prakash's next theatrical release. The action flick will be arriving in movie halls later this year.
