National award-winning actor Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth have filed for divorce at the Chennai family court. The ex-couple parted ways in 2022.
Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the former star couple of Tamil film industry, parted ways in January 2022. As per recent updates, the National award-winning actor and Lal Salaam director have finally filed for divorce, after two years of separation. The latest reports suggest that Aishwarya Rajinikanth and Dhanush have filed a mutual petition for divorce at the Chennai family court, recently. The new updates have finally put an end to the rumours about the couple’s reconciliation.
According to the reports, Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth delayed the divorce procedure earlier, as both their families were strongly against their decision. Earlier, it was reported that the filmmaker’s father, superstar Rajinikanth, and Dhanush's father, director Kasthuri Raja, were advising the duo to reconsider their decision. Even though they tried to work on their marriage for the sake of their sons, things didn’t work out and they decided to separate ways.
Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth, who tied the knot in 2004 after a brief period of courtship, decided to part ways after 18 years of marriage. For the uninitiated, the Captain Miller actor and Lal Salaam director were just 21 and 23 at the time of their marriage. If the reports are to be believed, the couple drifted apart gradually and were facing serious compatibility issues. However, the National award-winning actor and filmmaker remain on cordial terms and are planning to continue co-parenting their sons, Yatra and Linga.

The talented director recently made a comeback to films with the sports drama Lal Salaam, which featured Vikrant and Vishnu Vishal in the lead roles, and Rajinikanth in a pivotal role. Aishwarya Rajinikanth is reportedly gearing up to make her Bollywood directorial debut very soon, with an upcoming romantic drama. A major announcement on the same is expected to be out very soon.

Dhanush, on the other hand, is going through the best phase in his acting career so far with back-to-back notable films. The actor was last seen in Captain Miller, the period action drama helmed by Arun Matheswaran. He has a massive line-up of upcoming films, including Sekhar Kammula's directorial Kubera, Ilaiyaraaja biopic, Raayan (which is helmed by Dhanush himself), Aayirathil Oruvan 2, and much more.
