Dhak Dhak, a 2023 road adventure drama film, was written and directed by Tarun Dudeja and produced by Ajit Andhare, Kevin Vaz, Pranjal Khandhdiya, and Taapsee Pannu under the banners of BLM Pictures, Outsider Flims Productions, and Viacom18 Studios. The cast included Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Sanjana Sanghi. Despite underperforming at the box office, the film has received positive feedback on Netflix. In light of this, Tarun Dudeja, the director, has confirmed plans for a sequel to Dhak Dhak (2023), featuring Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza, Sanjana Sanghi, and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
In an interview with Hindustan Times recently, Tarun outlined that Dhak Dhak 2 is in the scripting stage.
He said, “It is in a very nascent stage right now. The response we got after the OTT release was great; the audiences liked the characters. Why not take these characters on a new journey?” Also, he said he wanted the cast for the film to remain the same as the prequel.
“The cast would definitely be the same because people loved these characters. We are brainstorming ideas on how to make this into a good fresh story. We don’t want it to be like any other travel film, it should be different like the first part, that’s our goal. We are basically on stage one of scripting,” the filmmaker said.
In December last year, Sanjana said that Dhak Dhak 2 was in the making via a post. “Elated to share with you that our gang’s journey doesn’t end in #KhardungLa - because we are bringing to you the sequel. Are you ready to join us on another extraordinary ride? #DhakDhak2,” she wrote.
Only time will tell where the truth lies.
