Dhadak 2: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's film release delayed? Here's what we know

Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's movie Dhadak 2 was set to arrive in theatres this year. The latest update is that the film's release has been delayed.

Dhadak 2's release postponed?

Filmmaker and producer Karan Johar made an official announcement about Dhadak 2 in May this year. The film, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, was scheduled for a theatrical release on November 22, 2024. But as per the latest media report, the film might not arrive on this date. The makers have reportedly postponed Dhadak 2's release. According to Mid-Day, several factors have contributed to the movie getting delayed. However, the core reason is that some portions of Dhadak 2 are left to be shot.

Dhadak 2's release gets postponed?

Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's Dhadak 2 will reportedly hit the big screen in the first quarter of 2025. "A few songs and some patchwork have yet to be filmed. The makers are now looking at the first quarter of 2025 for release," a source told the tabloid. According to the report, Dhadak 2 is the official remake of the Tamil film, Pariyerum Perumal.

Since Dhadak (2018) was criticized for replacing the caste angle, Karan Johar and Shazia Iqbal are going all out in exploring the issue. There has been shuffling in the post-production team which also contributed to the delay in the film's release.

Another source informed the tabloid that Siddhant's Yudhra box office debacle also led to Dhadak 2's postponement. "The makers were looking at Yudhra’s box-office fate because it was Siddhant’s first solo theatrical release. After its underwhelming run, the team felt it wise to have a considerable gap between the two movies," a source added.

Directed by Shazia Iqbal, Dhadak 2 has been backed by Dharma Productions, Zee Studios and Cloud 9 Pictures. The film has been penned by Shazia, Rahul Badwelkar, and Mari Selvaraj. Earlier, while announcing Dhadak 2 on social media, Siddhant Chaturvedi had captioned his Instagram post: "एक राजा, एक रानी, एक कहानी - २ धड़कनें| #Dhadak2 in cinemas 22nd November 2024 (sic)."
